Rainbow Fish

Friday, we received a visit from Otis Redding, a betta fish.  As Otis is a male, he is kept in his aquarium by himself. After all, they are called Siamese fighting fish for a reason!  Betta fish are found in the waters of Vietnam, Thailand and Cambodia. Recently, they have been found in Australia; however, as that is not their true home, they are considered to be invasive or as we discussed in class, a pest. Otis is an insectivore because he likes to eat insects, not plants. In the wild, Bettas can be very helpful to humans because they eat mosquitoes.

Questions:
1. What the specific characteristics of a fish are?
2. Which group of fish does not lay eggs?
3. What do people use fish for?
4. Can you remember the titles of the two books we read this year where fish are an important part of the story?
